Land Purchase Rules 2024 | How Much Land Can I Buy in India? | Buying Land VS Rental Property Facts
The maximum amount of land a person can own in India, depends firstly on the type of land in question and secondly which state or territory the land is located.
Numerous modifications were made in India following the Zamindari system’s dissolution. The federal government changed a few things, and the states received some new authority. As a result, each state has a different maximum limit on land purchases.
The quantity of residential or commercial immovable assets that an NRI may buy is unrestricted; however, agricultural land cannot be purchased in India by NRIs or Overseas Citizens.
Apart from agricultural land, farm houses, and plantation properties, non-resident Indians (NRIs) can purchase a variety of real estate in India. In order to purchase farmland, plantation property, or a farm house in India, they must obtain government and RBI approval.
The only situation in which this rule is not applicable is when someone inherits land.
