In line with the Smart City Mission, Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) and Goa Natural Gas Private Limited (GNGPL) commissioned a piped natural gas (PNG) line at a residential complex in Tonca, Miramar on Friday with the goal of making the state capital an LPG-free city.
Panaji residents were urged by IPSCDL to choose PNG over LPG given that it is 17% to 20% less expensive.
In the upcoming weeks, the Mission is expected to supply about 3,000 families in central Panaji and an additional 3,000 connections in St Inez. PNG services are also offered to all commercial venues, including hotels and restaurants, via IPSCDL and GNGPL.
Sanjit Rodrigues, MD and CEO of IPSCDL, said, “We are genuinely excited to embark on this transformative journey, aiming to redefine Panaji’s energy landscape.” Collaborating is a major step toward sustainability in the future. “It also reflects our unwavering dedication to enhancing our community’s quality of life,” he stated. He continued by saying that the project is fully in line with the goal of creating a vibrant and environmentally sustainable Panaji and that the construction of natural gas infrastructure would enable everyone to have constant access to energy while also clearing the way for a safer and cleaner environment.
This month, the agency is going to start gasification operations in Ribandar in collaboration with IPSCDL with the goal of offering sustainable energy solutions. According to IPSCDL, GNGPL aims to guarantee a smooth natural gas supply to Panaji’s residential neighborhoods with a network of more than 200 kilometers of pipelines. “PNG provides a simple, one-time connection that is paid for with a meter system. It has little emissions of black carbon and emits 33% less CO2 than coal and 12% less than oil, according to IPSCDL.
